 • Product Owner

Hi,

Happy New Year!

within our company there are 4 product (managers) owners, working on one project. They are reporting directly to the management. Our management decided one day to give the overall product development responsibility to one product owner. This one is also attending the sprint planning meeting. During our first sprint planning of the year, yesterday, he was only prepared for "his" features. With "his" I mean features he designed. And he had no information about the features from the other product managers/owners.

I canceled the sprint planning meeting and sent him away to get all the information. But his has caused a big escalation.

How would you have reacted and how shall I explain management my reaction.

Thanks for your help!

Cheers, Gerhard

Hi Gehard,

I would say, that your reaction was absolutely right. The best way would be, that you make clear that not the team has to carry the responsibility of working on a unfinalised backlog, but the product manager.

regards,
W.
